100's if not 1000's of  young scouse's went to sea.
It was said there was a scouse and Scotsman on every ship that sailed from the UK and that could be true.

After the Second World War seamen were favoured by the girls because they could get nylon stockings from the US.
They could also get Gordon Moore's toothpaste which the girls seemed to favour. It didn't whited the teeth, it just made the gums redder. Quite ludicrous really, one could say the idea was thinking laterally, it did make the teeth more obvious and therefore whiter?
