A Liverpool family....

Ethel Sandiford (nee Wills) and her sisters. They lived in Moscow Drive, (Off Green Lane, ) Liverpool 13. This photo was probably taken around 1900

The family on the 1911 census. Have a read in there, you'll see there is a grandchild living there also, with the maiden name. Dad has died as mum is a widow.

Their house today....

Lizzie

Oh WOW I am loving that house

Barbie , why would they wish to have a fight ?..  Laughing

Aren't the birth years very close together , what a busy life the Mum led.
Does anyone know why entry No 10 on the Census shows ages for both the Male and the Female Column ?  Shocked

Call me blonde but I don't get that....lol....
The ages for number 10 and 11 were mistakenly put in the female column, crossed out and put in the male.

If you look, you will see that there is a granddaughter aged 4 but who is the mother? I can't work that out!
Sherryman

I wondered who the Mother of the little girl was too, but no real clues there to identify her.

Err the Straightener ?

Oh, I've never heard that term before now.....I mean like never.,....as  a scouser, i wonder why?  Embarassed

The granddaughter appears to be either the son's who is listed as single, so he didn't marry but took the child or, the kid is one of the daughter's who wouldn't have got married as all of the girls still have the maiden name. A kid out of wedlock them days....would have been frowned down on.....but, it was one of theirs!  Confused
