Bread

This week is Real Bread Week, an annual celebration of proper bread with no additives.

In the UK, 32 per cent of bread is thrown away.

Nearly 12 million loaves of bread are sold every day in the UK, 76 per cent of which are white.

Otto Rohwedder is credited with inventing sliced bread in 1928.  His real innovation was the oiled paper it was wrapped in to keep it fresh.

Sorry for the typos in your quote from my post, I've altered it now...I really am a rubbish typer.....

Do I ever nibble any? Well now....here is how it goes....I don't ever touch food that I know is going out there for the customers to eat, that would be awful, (I don't work in Maccy D's) however, sometimes, a few little chunks are perhaps a little bit 'too hard', or 'overcooked' to go out, so I don't put them out. As I do not like waste, I of course am obliged to eat those remaining chunks  Laughing Sometimes as I am chopping up that luscious crusty bread, it jumps off the chopping board into my mouth, or my pocket, sometimes both. Sometimes of course there may just not be enough room on the bread counter for it all and so saving it going to waste once more I feel obliged to haveit for my lunch.  Laughing
