The earliest known use of the word 'crisp' for such thin, fried potatoes was in 1929

Yep, was funny when i was in NYC, the vans going past had Walker's design but the name Lays......Lays chips.....hmmmm not the same ring to it as  Walker's crisps.  Very Happy
