this is what our fire place was like in Myrtle gardens my mum used to keep dads tea warm on it

It is similar to my nan's she had in the farm house in Wales. Looks fab but the poor women had to keep it cleaned out!

Those hugh ranges dominated a room and also not only where they a source of room heating and Food  Cooking,they were also the means for heating water for many uses including the very important  compulsery 'Once -a week - dip in the Gavanised Tin Bath,whether you needed that bath or not   Wink
