Garston Breakers Yard.

Here are some pic's of the shipbreaking yard, next to Garston docks, taken a couple of years ago! I didn't know of it's existence, and it looks like it's no longer in business!? Fascinating to see that old ferry, slowly disintegrating!

Great Thread MOJO. plenty of pics there, It looks much much better now doesnt it. It would be a nice idea if some of those remnants could be set into concrete Plinths as part of any future development of the area as a reminder of its  past.
Also,Ta for the interesting additional info  supplied by 'Linky' Scousemouse.

Just looking back over this thread, so much dereliction here and yet a mere Mile or so away you come across the Picturesque Cressington Park / Grassendale Private residential Area and Promenade...Such a contrast in such a short stretch of River frontage

. Note How close Industrial Garston Docks are to the Luxurious Cressington Park/ Grassendale Park Victorian Riverside Residential development

That's a lovely shot Beeb.

There used to be a steel ladder you could use,to climb down, onto the beach, but it's disappeared! I'd like to take a walk/climb along that private slipway!! Near to the dock end of that prom' is a WW.2 pillbox! (still can't post pic's!!)

That "inlet" you can see, in the middle of the picture, is a bit of a mystery, as it goes someway, through the estate, but is now, surprisingly, full of rubbish!!
