Hope the Irish amongst us had a good ST P's day. I'm not of Irish decent myself but my kids are in parts.  Very Happy
Lizzie

Shame though that we never celebrate St George’s Day....maybe if it was a public holiday like St Patrick’s Day is in Ireland then we may get a bit more enamoured by it.... Rolling Eyes
Alice

Yes Lizzie, we should have a day off for St. George's Day and celebrate it!

I think St George's day is celebrated, certainly in parts of Liverpool it is. I think Council buildings, some Churches and the Police buildings etc, Fly the flag of St George on 23rd April in commemoration of the proclaimed date of his death.
If you take a wander over to St Georges Church Everton on that day you will see the adjacent streets of  Heyworth St, St Domingo Rd, and Everton Rd,truly bedecked in flags of St George from virtually every lampost .

There is something in what you say Barbie, I think its awful if St Davids day is not commemorated equally as the other three, after all during the 19th Century Liverpool had a more consistant influx of Welsh people ,over time, entering the city   than both The Scots and the Irish.
Add to all that, the  fact that the Welsh Builders built a large percentage of Liverpool's houses up until the war.

Well, it's not that I'm suicidal over it... Laughing  But it's something within me....I love to share the other 3 Saint's day, like trying the food stuffs of their country, from Scotland i love haggis, Irish, their stew and their soda bread/farls, and the good old bangers n mash....I'd just like to know why, as far as my workplace is concerned, was there no leek soup on, or Welsh rarebit, or whatever.....why are  other people not prepared to make this day as special as the others?
It's a bloody French firm I work for anyway.....bleedin' frogs! Go back to Europe and eat ya snails..... q7
