Liverpool stuff...only!

Thought we should have a section for purely Mersey sounds?! I'll start off with one from T.O.T.P.s 1970,with the great Dyan Birch of Arrival!

Nice Mojo! Never heard of them before. Cheers.

This was so cheesy, but me and my mates loved it. We'd dance in The Grafton to it. We were only 14 and 15 but we still went. Mum never knew, she'd have killed me!  We didn't do anything bad, just wanted to dance the night away with gorgeous guys in flares, stacky shoes and 3 star jumpers...... Confused

Though not my thing,I remember being quite chuffed to see a black, english band in the charts,as they were usually american, even more so,as they were from here! Smile

Here are some of the band in their earlier incarnation,as the Chants,a great song!

Jan, I have this song on one of my mixes in the car.. Lol...
they were a good band, part of the Merseybeat scene in the early-mid 60's. Active from 1962 and split up in 67 I think.

Cool

Just played it through Jan...Its early eighties isnt it....nice one MOJO, I love that
that song...
Its shot on a very murky day isnt it, so looking across the River for Line-up. Marker positions on the Wirral Side isnt possible
I dont think its any of the Docks South of The Pier Head,I reckon its the Central area of the North Docks  around the Stanley Dock / Collingwood Dock areas, The end sequence where they are all in the truck driving over a bridge, looks like it could  well be the famous Bascule Bridge alongside  the Stanley Dock.
I will take another look later,,just off out again.right now
brainbox

I've had a look around  just now and I reckon that Bridge is here on Page 4 an some of those buildings are on page 5....have a look and compare with Video footage  see what you reckon.
Lots of docks have similar type of buildings but these ones look like the ones in the Song Vid.

Select 'Images ' in Google search then type in....

Jan

wow that is something special mojo ,mojo did he actually get the band together??,,bet he is a really nice fella ,,, Jan x
MOJO

I don't think he actually formed the band,as it evolved over the years, from 1957,when they were a skiffle band. There have been more changes in personnel, than you think, with only John, and Frank Allen, left of the originals, though Frank didn't join till 1964. Smile
Jan

Thanks mojo ,thanks for info , i don't know that much about the band but my sister does,,   I just love that song ,, always have ,,always will ,, love Bruce sprigsteen doing it as well,,,,,Jan x

The Mighty WAH! - Heart As Big As Liverpool (full version)
TheMightyWah

Published on 24 Mar 2012 - THE MIGHTY WAH! - HEART AS BIG AS LIVERPOOL
written by Pete Wylie

When all the lights go out forever
Somewhere near the end of time
The noise will pass and the dust will settle
And you'll be on my mind

Now you won't find it hard to understand
Though it's so hard to explain
The who and what and how and why and wherefore
You kept me sane
You kept me sane

'Cos you were there for me
Oh, and you set me free
To be what I want to be
With dignity

Heart as big as my hometown
Lay me down by water cool
Heart as big as the city
Heart as big as Liverpool

Well I'll come running from the other side
When I hear you call my name
And if somebody wants to point the finger
I'll take the blame
I'll take the blame (I'll do the same)

'Cos you were there for me
Oh, and you set me free
To be what I want to be
With dignity

Heart as big as my hometown
Lay me down by water cool
Heart as big as the city
Heart as big as Liverpool

And I am not alone
And I am not alone
And I am not alone
And I am not alone

And I am not alone (You are not alone)
And I am not alone (You are not alone)
And I am not alone (You are not alone)
And I am not alone (You are not alone)

You are not alone

Heart as big as my hometown
Lay me down by water cool
Heart as big as the city
Heart as big as Liverpool

Heart as big as my hometown
Lay me down by the water cool
Heart as big as the city
Liverpool

(And you are not alone)
And I am not alone
