New Project - Snapshot Shopper

Hi guys,

I've been working on a new project this week - Snapshot Shopper. Basically I've been visiting shops and asking to take pictures of the interior. This isn't really something we can appreciate now as much as our descendents hopefully will in the future. I find it frustrating that our own ancestors failed to take many images of the inside of the shops they frequented back in the day. There are pictures, but they often only the frontage taken from out in the street. This new project takes that extra step through the front door in order to reveal what's within.

It's very early days yet and only Facebook-based for the time being. That said, I am looking into how to make one of those Word Press sites which should be more accessible and be an improvement design-wise. For now, please feel free to take a look at:

I've forgotten what this shop was, before it was converted,to a clothes shop, and I've also mislaid more interior pic's,which showed it was tiled throughout, quite ornately too, before being covered up, I thought! Maybe it was a butchers shop,or something related,at one time, and it's on West Derby rd.

Brilliant!
Can anyone enlighten me as to what is going to happen to my all time fave shop, on Pembroke Place. I think it was a butchers. You know the one, all covered in green tiling outside. It has had boards around it for so long.

That's "Galkof's" butchers, which does,or did, have a website! There was a jewish community around that area,in the past, with quite a few tailors up Seymour st. During the fight to establish the country of Israel, which was the british protectorate of Palestine, some british(possibly local)soldiers were shot and killed! This led to some civil disorder,in that area, were many of the tailors, and other businesses, were attacked, and damaged! Galkof's is the only sign of the jewish community left!

The websites changed a bit........

These places are just the sort that would have been fantastic to be able see inside.

Great Idea Dan, I look forward too seeing more of your work, no shortage of shops in Liverpool now so you will have plenty to choose from.
