REMEMBER THE PREFABS IN PRESCOT STREET

Barbie

Good find SM. I remember them there but not elsewhere funnily enough.

I like that photo Scousemouse. I always wish the photographer had also swung around and taken a shot of the other side of Prescot Street were the Royal Hospital now stands.
In this scene can be noticed The Old Fort Pub which still survives today on the corner of Moira Street facing the entrance area of the Hospital.
I think Prefabs of the more modern design eventually replaced the ones shown here and more were sited on the other side of Prescot Street too.
In the  Misty distance behind them can be seen The huge 'Castle-like' Liverpool Collegiate School building , designed by Harvey Lonsdale Elmes, the same fella who designed our St Georges Hall .  The School was eventually destroyed by fire , with the 1840s shell being retained and Urban Splash constructing Apartment blocks behind its fantastic facade
Newbuild Student accommodation with Retail units below them, now occupy the site of these Prefabs.
