Otterspool 1930

MOJO

Nice pic'Barbie! Many don't realise the prom' wasn't always there, and there was a small dock!
Barbie

Correct Mojo. I posted a pic of the opening day of the prom in the liverpool pics thread. 1950 I think it opened.
MOJO

In more rural times...

...and here's the dock!
brainbox

I have never seen that Market pic before MOJO, as barbie says, its worth looking into a bit more, I know there was an open air market at derby square when St Georges Church was there. Great pics of Otterspool ,as it was, too.
brainbox

Sorted it now MOJO. The market was sited in Great Georges Street almost at its junction with Upper Parliament Street and facing the top of St James Street.
After its demolition the David Lewis Theatre was built on the site.
I think the error in the title of the photo is due to Derby Square being facing a St Georges Crescent, and of course itself occupying the site of the former St Georges Church......I hope its o,k with you as I have put pics and info into a new Thread Titled St James Market, so as it doesnt mess up your Ships and Boats Thread ,here.
Barbie

mojo, love the early pics of Otterspool as I was there last saturday learning parts of it's history.
BB.......you soooooooooooooo suit your name!  Wink Well done.

Barbie

Cheers Mojo.  Cool
brainbox

Not sure about that being HMS Convoy MOJO..you may be right, but i have a feeling that was a Sailors Church. formerly an old whaler Ship....I.must look a bit further though ,cos I may be wrong
MOJO

You're probably right,as even though it's a 3-master,the same as the Conway, the Conway wasn't "converted" in quite the same way,as far as I can see! Smile
