Scouse Royalty and as they bring in so much revenue for Liverpool we should give them a cut of out tax money.  Work the same way as the London based Royals.

Have you ever been to visit their houses,Jan? In Macca's,they have some photo' of where  certain songs were actually written, with identical furniture,etc....weird!
Jan

No  Mojo, would love to go, I didn't know you can go inside.
I think another thing to do when I'm up visiting the relly's
Got any pics of their houses to go on?
Jan x

No pics to go on but is this any good:

Jan

trust you hahaha, crying here, so funny
Done it again,
Just don't pick the right words sometimes haha

MOJO

Here's a couple of pic's I took, when I went. the trustee(?) who showed us round, actually lived in Macca's house, and bore more than a passing resemblance to the man himself! Unfortunately, he's since been sacked, apparently for being drunk?! Both houses (and now one of Ringo's)are owned and run by the national trust. (YOU AREN'T ALLOWED TO TAKE PIC'S INSIDE THE HOUSES!)

Jan

Thanks Mojo, great them, I will have to go to their houses next time I'm up. Shame you can't get pic's inside, would of loved to have seen what it was like.
Got a pic of Ringo's somewhere, I'll try to find it later. Jan x

Jan

Redeye

Paul lived in Western Avenue in Speke and went to Stocktonwood School. I lived in Linner road at the time and also went to the same school although sadly I didn't know him, probably because he was 5 years older, I did see him play in Melbourne Australia in 1964 and of course I told the girls I knew him.
Always been a fan and I do have a copy of the show I went to see on an old hard drive, (must try and dig it out) it was called the Beatles sing for shell.  another British group were on called sounds incorporated but I haven't heard of them for years. my son says he can see me in the audience but Its very grainy and I don't admit to jumping up and down shaking my Beatle cut hair.
MOJO

Wow,so 2 beatles lived in Speke! Wonder if it was the same time? Be great if you can find that clip,Redeye! Welcome to Ourscouse,by the way!

Great information redeye, love to see the film. Jan x

I tried to post these last week but didn't know how to, this is the Beatles show I went to see in Melbourne, Australia in 1964. they did three shows but this is the only one Ringo played on as he had had a throat operation. I paid £1-10s Australian for the tickets and it is a lasting memory.

Wow ! Redeye, thank you so much for posting these up, they are absolutely superb. The lads are so energetic and full of enthusiasm, and displaying that raw talent that made them stand out from the rest. John was a bit naughty during the second clip, however it was a different era altogether wasn't it. Paul was Mr Diplomatic as per usual. You are right to be justly proud to have witnessed such a sensational performance.
Thank You !
Jan

Brilliant Redeye, really enjoyed the concert, so clear the films.
Thanks for posting

Hi Jan,
apparently, that "Rock'n'Roll album was only done to compensate for some copyright infringement to Morris Levy,by including some songs he owned, and who consequently dropped a lawsuit against Lennon!
That pic' of George looks like it was taken in Upton Green,in Speke, where he lived for a time!

Thats great MJO..going by your pic it looks like that is  just by Toys R Us  . There are some really great Street Artists about, Whilst in town on Saturday there was a fella drawing another cracker one on the pavement in the Middle of Church Street. It was a shame it probably wouldn't survive the weekend.

Whilst on my travels on Sunday I noticed this and had to stop and take a  snap

A few more Beatles photo's. These are of me and my old man on the Forthlin Rd/Mendips tour June 2011. If anyone is into the Fab Four then you really must go on this tour...its fantastic. The 2 guides, one at each house, are really knowledgeable (they almost knew more about the Beatles than I!) Also the guy who drives the minibus out to the houses was great, with lots of little tales about John and Paul as he drives around. Its usual always fully booked up and lots of Americans/Germans/Japs etc on board. At about £25 a person, its not particularly cheap, but it was worth it. Thoroughly enjoyable. The attention to detail at the two houses is incredible. It was just like being in a time warp.

Great photos there barbie, I hadn't seen that thread. You were lucky with the weather. I am still finding stuff on this site that i haven't seen...I am only a newbie...lol
Was that tour a special one? details please?...looks fun.
Barbie

It was a 2 and a half hour tour with Richie the Ranger. He does all sorts of walks and tours of many places, he is full of knowledge of the history of Liverpool. He charges £2 a tour.
For a list of tours,  email the guy:
richietheranger@gmail.com

He will send you a list of times, dates and places.  Very Happy

whilst in London about 3 years ago we went for a walk around St John's Wood and of course that famous zebra crossing....
My 2 daughters and son are either side of the silly Spanish woman in the red coat...lol  There are always loads of people here all year round. Its funny watching them stride across the crossing. There is a live webcam trained on the crossing and I often have a quick look for a laugh...always loads of people around it.
Abbey Road studios are the white building behind the trees

Barbie

I always expect to see a barefoot person..... Laughing
Good pics, thanks Dave.
dpnewbold

oh, yes I know about Ritchie the Ranger. My old man has done loads of tours with him. I haven't done any...yet. Apparently he's really good....knows his stuff.

Yeah he knows his stuff.....right down the river that flows up from church street to the cathedral.... Laughing
He tells some tall tales.... Wink

I've been busy again today, taking photos.
I was at the Adsa in Huyton today and saw the church at the top of Bluebell Lane. Remembering that the fifth Beatle, Stu Stutcliffe was buried there I had a mooch around. It took quite a bit of looking around until I found it but its only a very small grave yard so if you look enough you will find it.
A bit strange, I know! but its part of our Beatle history, he was one of Johns best friends and went to art college with him. He was a talented artist (check his work out on the web) and boy, what a handsome lad he was....Died far too young..
oh, and Astrid..phew, what a doll. I had the hots for her when i was a young lad...lol

I tidied the grave up a little, you can see in the 2 pics above, I removed the broken glass. Also, notice the 2 plectrums that someone has left.
dpnewbold

Astrid was a fantastic photographer and was very experimental, using shades and dark and light contrasts...another shot of the beautiful couple...

dpnewbold

I have posted a lot in the past couple of days...sorry if I am posting too much....
