The County Sessions House

A follow on from the 'Where Is This ' Thread concerning the Sessions House.
Here  in pic number 1. s a present day front view of the building. if you look closely it can be seen that the Upper teir of Perimeter wall Balustrading has recently been renewed and a small section to the  lower wall has received similar treatment. The remainder does look like it will require renewal sooner rather than later,[ see close up in pic 2 ].. and in the pic .3.from around the side of the building in Mill Lane the wall is virtually crumbling.
I did notice whilst down there that the work on the adjacent Central Library has also included quite extensive stone renewal, and on a tour of the refurbishment of the Library last Summer I was told that the replacement stone had been sourced from the same quarry in Wales as the Original. build in the mid1800s. It has been left 'unmatched' and will be allowed to weather in time to blend in with its adjacent original stonework.

Wonderfull pics Beeb. I can see how the elements are eroding the sandstone though. Such a shame.
Thanks for sharing.
