What a day......enjoyed it immensely.

Here are a few shots, camera ruined some of them....Rolling Eyes

Thing is....where the hell was I?  Very Happy I have more pics to post but they are for another thread!  Wink
Alice

Barbie, wonderful photos of the canal etc. at Walton Hall Park.  Did you have a drink at the Walton Hall Arms or an ice cream in the park?
Barbie

Very Happy I knew you were the one that would know where I was Alice! What a delightful park it is. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip.
I didn't have either of those things Alice, I had tea and a scone with jam in the park's cafe. They gave me one of those miniature jars of jam all to myself. Very Happy

Animal's graves, one of which is a horse

New military vehicle?

I can't wait to see it when it's renovated.

The staff of the hall of yesteryear

This photo is a bit of a paradox.....such a peaceful place invaded by the army....with the bridesmaids from teh wedding in the background.

An 8 hr day , including 6 buses , Wow ! Barbie you most certainly made the most of the Glorious weather we had yesterday.
You and Alice are both so very fortunate to have, at times , visted Walton Hall Park Warington, I've never visited ,but must do sometime, it looks like a beautiful place to spend time in.
Those pics show it off in such a lovely way. Thanks for uploding and sharing memories of your visit, I bet you were well knackered by the time you returned..knackered , but extremely pleased with your day.
Barbie

Well Beeb, was awake at 5 for work.....haha...can't switch off. So yeah it was a long day, but worth it.
Here are a few more pics off my phone cam.....didn't want to use my camera cos so many kiddies about. So pretended I was texting. This is where the cafe is, nice area for scoffing your noms! I rather suspect it was once the court yard and stables.

Oh sorry....none left... Laughing
Barbie

I must say to anybody who hasn't been, GO! Warrington and surrounding areas are brill. Although I have no attachment as it not Liverpool, I can still enjoy their very own heritage, just as I can St Helens. Both town have wonderful old buildings and pubs with very ornate exteriors, I saw one in Warrington from the bus and it was pretty awesome. I hope to get off the bus next time and go take a few shots of it.
Warrington also has it's own half timber pub too in the town centre. I also will go check out the town hall next time i am there.
Alice

Barbie we were there a few weeks ago and there was a film crew but didn't ask what they were filming.  We never stay long as we are usually on the way to somewhere else so I have never been up to see the church.
Barbie

The church is about 5 mins or less walk away from the entrance of the park.   Very Happy

Yes Barbie, I have seen the church in the distance.  Down that main road A56  about a mile further on is the turn off for Lewis Carrolls grave.  It's not far from the main road.  The turning leads to the Ring O Bells pub and the church is just over the road.
Barbie

Wow, that's a good sense of direction you have....and, you have caught my interest on the grave of Lewis Carroll .....need to google that one, didn't know it was near. cheers.

Well, I forgot about these two pics....there is a little more to the people of Walton Hall....

Barbie, there are newcomers in the zoo, herd wick lambs and alpacas, and a new duck pond, you can see photos on their Facebook page.
Barbie

Oh I wondered where these pics were, thanks for bumping the thread Alice.

I do plan another visit so will check it all out. Also I want to see the beautiful Warrington town hall which I think puts our's in the shade....sorry but i do... Very Happy

Such a refreshing idea and great photographs. I probably passed some of those places as a child but that was a long time ago.
Thanks Barb, such an original trip, I will have to show my wife as we both have seniors cards that allow free travel on public transport ........ Well done young lady!
Barbie

Young.... Razz  Thanks for nice comments though!  Very Happy

...to Mold. But didnt take any photos.  Shocked

I do so have to say it's a lovely little market every saturday and also a nice place to walk about. Lots of lovely little cafe's, I snubbed Costa and went into a little place I went to a few months back. A family concern, no well over priced coffee and teas with fancy names, no over priced small pieces of sickly cakes, just good old home baked scones and such like.  I had to have jam on mine but you can opt for cream and strawberries if you wish. It's called Lucy May's...thanks Google for existing....

If you are a charity shop freak like me then there are quite a few to see.
It was one of these that was targeted by the protesters.

Next time I go I'm just going to explore the place rather than shop, you see, when I went there back at the beginning of the year that was the first time I'd stepped foot in Mold since I was 10. We had gone there for a shop during our holiday in Colomendy.

It costs me just 50p to get there and back and so though I don't have a lot of time, i still go to these places. I love travelling and I love Wales.

I got a bit mixed up with a protest there yesterday  Rolling Eyes i so can't mind my own you know...but it is a lovely little place to visit and I've promised to behave when i go back...probably next week when the protesters are back outside the shop... Wink

I stress, the accusations the protestors are stating are alleged, I am not saying it is true.
Barbie

Oh, i did take pics last time I was there at the beginning of the year, i think I posted them on here........it was cccccolddd.....

Alice

Nice photos Barbie, Mold sounds nice and it is a place I would like to visit with Wrexham.  I liked Llangollen and it would be great to go again.

It's a nice place, as is Wrexham Alice. The locals are friendly and I too am going to revisit the place.
Llangollen, i wish I had a for every time I've been there. It is one lovely area of Wales.

Nice pic's.......it's always worth going off the usual path!
Barbie

Yes it is. I went back there on tuesday (it was my birthday Very Happy ) and had a really lovely day. It's a lovely city and I really enjoy taking photos. I remembered my camera this time, but the photos need to be re-sized, I hate that bit, so boring.
Barbie

Chester, 11/03/17
The Anchorite Cell.

The structure was built in the middle of the 14th century as a religious retreat for a monk or a hermit. It belonged to the nearby St John the Baptist's Church until the Reformation. During the 19th century the building was restored and converted into a house. In 1897 the porch of St Martin's Church, which was being demolished, was moved here and made into a north entrance. The building was refurbished in about 1970 as a cottage

I love it, it's opposite an entrance of Grosvenor Park, where the squirrels run free and come over to you if you have their favourite nuts. When I win the lotto, going to buy this... Razz
Alice

Really nice photos Barbie, glad you enjoyed yourself.
Barbie

I walk a lot, for fitness and chester is a brilliant place to do it. doesnt cost me anymore to get there than I spend on my weekly ticket to work and back. Takes longer than the train but its a nice journey and if I'm lucky enough to catch the X8 then that is the limited stop bus and gets you there in less than an hour; once again using my weekly ticket that i buy anyway. (14)
MOJO1

Even though it's not far away, can't remember the last time I was there! Your pic's show some interesting places, and architecture, Barbie, so I'll have to make the effort to visit................sometime! Rolling Eyes
Barbie

Chester again today. No camera and very little battery left on my phone (because I forgot to charge it  Rolling Eyes  ) So only could take this pic today. It's in the grounds of the cathedral. The flowers were beautiful and the pic doesnt do them justice.

That is a lovely photo Barbie, looking forward to seeing more.
Barbie

it looked beautiful.

Nowhere special, but was around Aigburth,Mossley hill, and had a quick look around Holmfield rd, which is just off Aigburth rd.

The road takes it's name from this former mansion house estate....

......which was I.M. Marsh college, but is now part of John Moores.

Along the road is this cottage, no doubt, one of the few dwellings around here, till 20th century urbanisation!

There is also this rather eccentric looking property........

.....with lots of ornamentation!!

....further down ,is this former hotel, which is now flats, and getting the gargoyles repainted! The hotel closed in the early 00's , but I'd love to know the history attached to these buildings!

Shocked
Barbie

Great area of the city. I love your photos. i posted some of those amazing houses with the dragons and statues a real good while back. It was the first time i had ever seen them. That sandstone wall looks pretty much old!
MOJO1

Thanks B, but I also "found" some similar pic's I'd taken, a few years ago, but don't remember if I ever posted them, on here, anyway! Rolling Eyes
Valencia

Yes, Mossley Hill is one of the best areas in the city.  Brilliant photos MOJO, a good advert for wanting to live there.
