The Ancient Chapel of Toxteth. Park Road opposite the Dingle Tunnel that has has recently had the collapsed Roof.

Originally founded early 1600s , when Toxteth was a separate entity from Liverpool and definitely worth a view , still in use and many , many famous Liverpool people from the past interred there..

I took this a few days ago on my walk about. I'm ashamed to say, it was the first time in my 50 years on this earth that I had actually noticed it! A Liver Bird but not on top of the Liver Buildings!
brainbox

Barbie is it the Shipping office at the Back Of St Nicks ?......something like Washington Buildings.....well not that name but something like it  ?
Barbie

Yes BB, I can't find the distant shot I took of it, so this will have to do.  Smile
brainbox

Thats a nice shot Barbie,

I only knew it myself because it was pointed out to me on one of my little guided walks recently.....The Hidden Liver bird.....Its true what those in the Know say about always look up isnt it......Did you manage to visit St Nicks Too ...if so any pics ?
Barbie

You are so right about people not looking up. I've started looking up and found an amazing array of fabulous architecture in Liverpool. The tiniest things that people never notice in their life time.
I did go round St Nick's gardens. Very relaxing place.

The Bell in the grounds, (not googled it's history as yet) and also the fountain in the wall of the gardens.
Barbie

St Nick's itself, the old amongst the new. Paradox or what?

brainbox

I liked those shots barbie, I didn't notice that bell, there is one inside of the Church, I forget which ship it was off. I know The Simpson Drinking Fountains story is really interesting. maybe you could put some info up later...what a shame they are vandalized and neglected
Barbie

I don't think the fountain is vandalised so much as just neglected, the church and /or council should be maintaining it, it's a good piece of our heritage. I didn't see the bell outside last time I was there, maybe it is the one from inside moved out for the summer or something? Maybe not.
Barbie

So you clever lot, where is this? I took the photo today whilst out on my walk abouts.

Photo doesn't do this justice, when you see it the history really shouts out at you.
brainbox

Hi Barbie , been on walkabout again I see, did you have the correct footwear today ?

This one looks like its in a Side Alley , and I would guess at the Georgian Quarter around the Anglican Cathedral I will have a stab at Back Canning Street.....?
Barbie

It is a Back Alley though I think......What have you been told about hanging around down them Barbie ?   Shocked

...Theres not much background to give any clues ....how about Pilgrim Street off Hope Street ?
Barbie

Ok, it isn't a back alley as such, it was infact a small street, quite amazing actually.
