Not heard of that MOJO. It would be good to find out More. I have heard of Remains of Ramparts from the 1600s Stockading of the Town against Prince Rupert being found in areas bordering Lime Street through to Bold street, which at that time was the outer region of the Town.

The Pool of Liverpool traveled along the course of what is now John Lewis-- Paradise St - Whitechapel and up to the Old Haymarket and Small boats did actually travel its length. Incidentally its still there albeit in a smaller culverted form

There are various aspects of Liverpool history(and elsewhere,I suppose!)where stuff is recorded in some form, but then is lost,or forgotten about, until you come across one of these old books...... Shocked Have you ever heard anything about the supposed Roman rd. that was discovered during some sort of excavation by council workers,in the Otterspool,Aigburth area?

That sounds familiar Mojo....just googled, and I quote:
The Roman Occupation

The remains of a Roman road were uncovered in the 19th century near St Mary’s in Grassendale, with the route also picked up close to the river in Otterspool some time later. However, very little Roman activity is known from the area west of the road running from Chester up through Warrington and towards Carlisle. The discovery of a small number of Roman coins attests to contact between Roman and local people, but more than that we cannot say.
That is taken from this

Thanks Barbie,but that's what I mean....these things are discovered,but then,often forgotten about!
A more recent example being the "Old Hutte" in Speke, which was demolished to make way for  "Ford's" factory,in 1960! When this was done, this pic' shows that the bricks of the arch were numbered, presumably for the purpose of reconstructing it elsewhere,at sometime, but I've never heard what happened to these...yet!

We knocked that down for Fords?  Rolling Eyes
How sad. Deffo should have been relocated.
There is a Speke history book in the shop in town, I'll look and see if it has anything on it. Maybe the library?

Well, if the choice is jobs,or an old house......you can't really stop it,unfortunately! I wonder if the council still has the bricks, etc, somewhere,or were they used for landfill? I know there are many large items, etc, stored secretly! Cool
