Been without my internet for a week.  Mad

Last time I was on here talking about Virgin Media it wasn't in a nice way. I think i called them all the A holes going.
However, this time is different. I phoned them , a call I dreaded because not only am i hard of hearing but I always got to talk to the A holes who reckoned there was no problem, it was down to my pc, X box  etc here. Anyway spoke to to different guys and each one was patient with my lack of hearing and were extremely helpful. They suggested it sounded like I need an engineer. So they made an appointment for me. My back being up from remembering the last time one was due here, I was straight in there with "Errrr....no, i work, you'll have to come saturday when I am home. The answer was...."Errrr....no, can do better than that can have one there before saturday with an evening appointment! Evening appointment....ooooohhhh.....get them!!!
I soon wound my neck in and ended the call politely.
The engineer was here tonight and soon sorted the problem. There was some sort of problem with the big box down the road.
I thanked him and then he said, "You know your t.v. stand?" I said "Yeah????" I thought he was going to say he'd cracked the glass or something. He said, "How long have you had it?" I said, Four or five years....why?" He said, "Has it always been there like that?" By now my neck was winding out.....I said, "Yeah, why????" He said, "Cos it's back to front....."

It's awful being without the internet, I feel like pulling my hair out, it is so frustrating.  Glad the engineer sorted the problem quickly.

I was 'saying' that with my tongue in my cheek.  Very Happy

It refers to a conversation i have recently had with someone in work. A case of the then and the now situation. Kids back then and kids now. Today's kids seem to ' have it all' and yet, we all survived without one half of what they have now. We seemed to be happy enough playing in the street with each other, balls and skipping ropes etc. I witness young kids in a primary school i work in admiring themselves in the mirror, (I can see the pink cheeks and glossy lips even the teachers cant) flicking  their hair  like models and carrying their hand/shoulder backs like the older girls do. (In the crook of their elbow.) They talk about selfies, and facebook, what new phone they want for christmas and worry that there is a bit of muck on their shoes. No....wait...I'm not the only one to notice, the school has introduced wellies, mud, how to get dirty, the school is letting them get dirty with their 'homemade' mud in the school grounds!!!! (Yes, I have to flipping mop it  all up of a morning off my floors!!!!) They are being taught how to play! They are being taught how to amuse themselves without the use of technology!

yes indeed, how did we live without it years ago.....

Wink

Very true Barbie, we made our own fun and got plenty of exercise and fresh air, and there were less overweight kids.  I remember walking a long way to go to the library or the park.
